First Vice President
A native of South Florida, Julie and her husband, James, relocated to the Valley from Miami in 2002. Since “retiring” as a certified Physician Recruiter for Valley Baptist Health System, Julie has been actively involved in the local community. She has served as Vice-President of the Board for Harlingen Farmers Market since February 2016 and helps to coordinate the “Taste of the Market” and “Market Melodies” fundraisers. “I’ve been attending Harlingen Farmers Market ever since it first opened in December 2008 at the El Mercado location. I love seeing all of the beautiful produce and delicious goodies that are offered at our market. It’s so much fun to bring home and cook with such fresh ingredients. Everything tastes so much more delicious when the produce has been harvested that same morning. I especially love helping to support our local small farmers, ranchers, shrimpers, and entrepreneurs.”
Julie is an active volunteer at St. Anthony Catholic School, where she helps to coordinate gala fundraisers, book fairs, and other special events and has been serving as the lead room parent in her daughter Jordana’s classroom since 2014.
She also serves as the Education Outreach Chair for Harlingen Concert Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the music arts and providing high-quality yet affordable live musical entertainment to adults and children in the Rio Grande Valley.
Julie is so proud of how much Harlingen Farmers Market has grown and is excited to work with all of the talented, hard-working vendors. She always looks forward to seeing new and long-time customers and friends at the weekly market!
